Mersey Ferries
There's really only one way to experience the unique charm and magic of Merseyside and that's from the river. With Mersey Ferries cruises, the whole family can see for themselves the spectacular sights and rich historical character for which our region is renowned the world over. Approaching the majestic waterfront on the deck of the world's most famous ferry is an experience not to be missed.

Sudley House
Sudley was the home of Victorian ship owner, merchant merchant and art collector George Holt and his family. The house, built in the early 1800s, is surrounded by pleasant gardens and parkland and displays fine 18th and 19th century paintings from Holt's collection, together with works from the Walker Art Gallery.Victorian Liverpool had many great merchants' houses with private art collections. Only the pictures at Sudley survive in their original setting.

The Beatles Story

Speke Hall
One of the most famous half-timbered houses in the country, dating from 1490. The unique and atmospheric interior spans many periods: the Great Hall and priest holes evoke Tudor times, while the Oak Parlour and smaller rooms, some with William Morris wallpapers, show the Victorian desire for privacy and comfort. There is also fine Jacobean plasterwork and intricately carved furniture. A fully equipped Victorian kitchen and servants’ hall enable visitors to see ‘behind the scenes’.

Knowsley Safari Park
Opened in 1971 by the 18th Earl of Derby, Knowsley Safari Park was the first park of its kind to open close to a large city.  With constant improvements over the years, Knowsley has become one of Merseyside's premier leisure attractions, winning several awards for tourism and animal husbandry.  In 1994, it was voted Merseyside's Tourist Attraction of the year.  Although the main attraction of the park is the Safari Drive, other attractions include the Sea Lion and Parrot show; the Reptile House and the Children's Farm.

Port Sunlight
In 1888 William Hesketh Lever, a grocer's son from Bolton and successful soap manufacturer in Warrington, found a new site for his expanding soap business.  The marshy, uninspiring ground that he discovered was to be transformed into the village of Port Sunlight, which was named after his famous Sunlight soap.  Port Sunlight is a conservation area and is still within its original boundaries.  The history of the village and its community is explored in Port Sunlight Heritage Centre.

Western Approaches
Set beneath the streets of Liverpool, re-live the times of 1940's Britain with an insight into the life and work of the Wrens and  Waafs working under constant pressure in the original area command headquarters for the battle of the Atlantic.Now open to the public, you can visit the reconstruction of the 50,000 sq ft labyrinth of original rooms which brings a dramatic period of history vividly to life.Amongst the rooms you can visit, are the main operations room, the Admiral's office, Teleprinter station and also a reconstructed educational centre, with Anderson shelter and bombed out room.

Cains Brewery
Born in County Cork in 1826, Robert Cain first arrived in Liverpool at the age of eighteen.  From his modest pay as a merchant seaman he managed to accumulate sufficient funds to buy a small pub in Limekiln Lane, brewing his own ales and rapidly acquiring a reputation for his brewing skills.  With its richly detailed terracotta tile work Robert Cains original Mersey Brewery stands today as a fine example of Victorian brewhouse architecture.  A Liverpool landmark since 1850 the brewery is still dedicated to producing award winning ales in the tradition of those brewed by Robert Cain himself.

Albert Dock
The Albert Dock is a truly stunning architectural triumph. Opened in 1846, it soon became a treasure house of precious cargoes from all over the world. Today redevelopment, costing in excess of £100 million, has transformed it into one of Liverpool's busiest and most cosmopolitan centres and a top heritage attraction.
