Historic Warships
At east Float dock in Birkenhead a fine collection of fighting ships are permanently on display.  Two veterans of the Falklands war - H.M.S. Plymouth and the submarine H.M.S. Onyx stand next to U534 - the only German submarine to be raised from the seabed after being sunk by the Allies.  She was almost certainly the last U-Boat to leave Germany and her sinking marked the end of the Battle of the Atlantic.

Sefton Park Palm House
The Palm House is managed by the Sefton Park Palm House Preservation Trust, a registered charity composed mainly of local residents.  The Palm House is open free of charge to the public on most days but will be closed at certain times for weddings, corporate events etc.  Liverpool millionaire Henry Yates gave a gift of £10000 to the City to build the Palm House.  Originally opened in 1896, it is 82 feet high and stands on a base of red granite from the Isle of Mull.

Conservation Centre
NMGM's award-winning Conservation Centre is the first national conservation centre in the UK, and the only one of its kind open to the public. Housed in the former Midland Railway Goods Depot (built in the 1870s) on Queen Square in the heart of Liverpool's main business and shopping district, the Centre and was opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1996.

World of Glass

The Blue Planet
Since it opened in 1998, the Blue Planet aquarium has become one of the North West's top tourist attractions.  A visit to the Blue Planet is a voyage of underwater discovery through stream, pond, lake, river, sea and ocean.  There are many presentations and shows including feeding time and chances to meet the animals close up.  Boasting the longest underwater safari tunnel in the world,  the Blue Planet is an ideal day out - especially when the weather is bad outside.

Liverpool Ducks
One of the best ways to see Liverpool's historic waterfront and docklands is with Duck Tours.  Original 1940's amphibious vehicles have been rebuilt and updated and now offer one hour tours around the docks, waterfront and city.  After departing from the Albert Dock, you follow a route around the city centre taking in many of the sights of Liverpool before plunging into the dock to  enjoy the sights of the waterfront.

Magical Mystery Tour
This daily two hour tour starts from the Beatles Story and finishes at the world famous Cavern Club.  The tour will introduce you to the lives of The Beatles, their homes, schools, birthplaces, Penny Lane, Strawberry Fields and many other landmarks.  Tours depart from Queen's Square Tourist Information Centre and the Albert Dock daily with additional tours at weekends.

20 Forthlin Road
20 Forthlin Road is one of the most important houses in the history of popular music.  This ordinary terraced house was the family home of Sir Paul and Michael McCartney right through the early Beatles years.  This is where the Beatles composed and rehearsed their earliest songs, and it was from here that The Scaffold was formed.  Inside the house, the period is vividly recalled with original photographs from Michael McCartney.

Hack Green Secret Nuclear Bunker
As one of the nations most secret defence sites,Hack Green has played a central role in the defence of Britain for almost sixty years. Declassified in 1993, the 35,000 square ft underground bunker would have been the centre of regional government had nuclear war broken out.
